Chicago’s new Court connection
Former Assistant Law Professor Elena Kagan was confirmed for the Supreme Court last week. Her place on the bench means not only that three women will serve on the nation's highest court for the first time, but that the University of Chicago will maintain an affiliation with the Court for a long time to come. Kagan's predecessor, John Paul Stevens, AB'41, served for 35 years. Kagan, 50, is one of the youngest justices ever appointed to the lifetime post.
